The Tour of America’s Dairyland announced today that it is adding a third road race, on Thursday, June 18. The Blue Mounds Race to the Future will take place on a 22-mile loop that has been proposed for the 2016 Olympics. This has some serious climbing, including what appears to be a three-mile slog that climbs about 750 feet at the end of each lap, with an average 8 percent pitch in the last mile.

Today’s announcement also included news that the Trek-Livestrong U23 team will be participating in the series.

Looks like the finish will be atop Blue Mound State Park—a brutal climb that makes you question why you chose the sport of cycling. Stop drooling Luke!

I predict this race will make Luke question his declaration of Denzer being the best road race around. Same roads they use for HHH and I am surprised they were able to secure these roads just a couple days before that event. Pinnacle is a lot harder climb than it looks on the ride profile, and Blue Mounds speaks for itself. Now to figure out if I can get a Thursday off on short notice.

The climb to the top of the hill in Blue Mounds SP is indeed incredibly awesome. This is going to be an amazing race.
