Seth Meyer (XXX Racing-AthletiCo) finished 3rd in Saturday’s P/1/2 road race in Willow Springs but was the first Illinoisan up the hill, giving him the 2009 state road race jersey.

Other state champions include Debbie Dust (PACT/Dish Network) in the women’s P/1/2/3, Jeff Perkins (Chicago Cuttin’ Crew) in the 4’s and Gina Champion (Team Mack) in the women’s 4’s.

Full wrap-up to come.

Full wrap-up to come!

If you must know, Rob White (Geargrinder) unloaded a monster effort to win, followed by a Mercy-Specialized rider whose name I didn’t write down.

I wouldn’t put much stock in them when they do surface. I saw a teammate listed in 5th, then 10th (on the “corrected” results), then 8th at the payout table. My masters results were listed at various times as 10th, 17th, and 26th, and I couldn’t find my 4s result at all.

I also overheard that the podium in the Masters’ 1/2/3s had to self-identify their finishes at the payout table, and that the other payouts in that race probably wouldn’t be awarded. Not sure if that came to pass.

The ICA site’s wrap-up has the podium wrong in the men’s 4s. Perkins is not listed at all. Not sure where that result came from.

But seriously, other than the mess resulting from a broken camera, it was a great race, and thanks to Tower for all their hard work.

Hey Usrnull, thanks for volunteering to help score next year’s race! ;)

Full and final results as well as final IL Cup standings will be posted to the ICA site by Wednesday.

Big thanks to Tower Racing and all the volunteers for putting on a great event.

There was a small mob that assembled at the scoring stand after the masters 4/5 results were officially posted. I’m not sure that the chief official could have been more gracious or patient in trying to sort out the placings. Many of the numbers were not identifiable on the video, and the officials were asking for everybody’s input in getting the races correctly scored. I’m not sure how it went after the other races, but while I was there they were allowinf anybody with a gripe about their placing to watch the video and be heard.

I hope that anybody who has a problem with the scoring now (days later) atleast put the effort in to ride back up to the finish line and try to deal with it then.

Great race, great job by Tower.  MJH- I would have stayed, but I had to leave by 1:30.  The masters 4/5 were not posted by then.

I wasn’t in the $$, so not such a big deal.

I have heard a lot of complaints about the video equipment being used by Illinois Cycling for the races.  The numbers are unreadable.  I don’t fault the guys trying to determine the results, but I hope that ICA looks into getting a better system next year and/or getting a refund on this system.

Final IL Cup individual and team standings are posted at http://illinoiscycling.org/

The video system used at many IL races this year was put together by volunteers (at their own expense) trying to help. We are looking into other options for next year.

Jason, I knew that was coming, the quickest way to get a job is to complain it. No offense to any of the organizers, I was just a little amused to see my results fluctuate by 18 spots. I certainly wasn’t interested in riding back up that hill to quibble over 17th.

I might take you up on it. I hear it’s a thankless job that pays nothing, much like a midpack finish.
