The race in Waterloo should be interesting. Most of the roads are very rolling, but you’ve also got lots county trunks that are largely pea gravel. The course probably won’t have steep climbs like Spring Prairie, and there aren’t many open stretches of flat road. I can already think of several 7-10 mile loops of nice roads with little traffic in the area. Having gone to high school 4 miles west in Marshall, the worst thing will likely be the smell of cow manure. Marshall still has a farm downtown, but Waterloo was always more urban. Lots of farms outside of both towns. The Marshall Fireman’s festival should be that weekend, where you can’t go wrong with the tractor pull and beer tent. Plenty of places to stay in Sun Prairie or Madison, which are only about 20 minutes away. BTW, the Waterloo Pirates are pansies. Go Cards!
