Have to disagree with you on needing more riders (or anyone) like Juan Antonio Flecha.  I watched the clip and while the antic seems funny (sneaking up and grabbing the flag), dropping ANY flag, regardless of country, on the ground is disrespectful!  As much as I feel certain I have issues with other countries politics and treatment of citizens, I’d never do this to that country.

I was a Boy Scout. I know where they’re coming from. But I don’t think Flecha meant any disrespect. He undoubtedly wasn’t thinking that far ahead. All of a sudden he had a giant flag in his hands and didn’t know what to do with it, and he paniced before it occured to him to hand it off to a spectator or team car.

Then again, Spanish athletes aren’t exactly known for their cultural sensitivity.

In any case, I’m sure the flag will be fine. I read somewhere that the colors don’t run.

I wonder if someone tread on it.
