The promoter for Hillsboro-Roubaix, perhaps the Midwest’s most eagerly anticipated amateur road race, has confirmed that the 2008 edition will be Saturday, March 29.

This is an exciting, grueling course, famous for a long stretch of uneven brick -- an approximation of Europe’s pavĂ© -- that will reduce the hardest cyclists to Jell-O, assuming the crosswinds and climbs don’t claim them first. Finishing this race is a victory in itself, and winning it bestows bragging rights for life. Indeed, it is the thought of Hillsboro in March that motivates many of us to mount our trainers in December.

Luke - thanks for the compliment/acknowledgement in the previous post.  I actually had a ton of fun helping to volunteer last year at Hillsboro.  So much so in fact that I already put myself down for this year.  Anyone else interested in helping for this particular race, go ahead and email Rich Pierce - (His response back from me today; Wow, thanks, we are excited whenever someone volunteers- cheers us all up.  You made my day. rp) There are lots of needs prior to race start that will not affect your ability to race in this event…

Julian, SHUSH! I go to Hillsboro each year simply to stock up on bottles for the season. From personal experience, I would also shy away from seatposts with carbon clamps. No, really.

(Guys, it’s not THAT hard… just find a big guy and keep him verbally engaged so that he doesn’t notice you’ve been drafting him for three hours).

Let’s see, add 7, carry the 1, integrate CosX over the interval 0 to 3 dx… Yep, that should do it.

115 days until Hillsboro!
