» Tonight is the deadline for registering for this weekend’s Tour de Champaignand Urbana Grand Prix, two well-run races that are drawing some heavy hitters to the elite races.
» I don’t know who is behind Velo Post, but it shows potential for tracking local racing.
» The promoters of the Tour of America’s Dairyland are dipping into Illinois with a new race on Sunday, July 29: Sammy’s St. Charles Prairie State Criterium. Looks like an interesting course along the Fox River.
» Omnium registration is open for June’s Tour of Galena. Registration for individual races will open Wednesday, May 23.
» Mike Seguin (Beverly Bike/Vee-Pak) is looking for fellow firefighters who are interested in racing with him and others at the 2012 Can-Am Police and Fire Games in St. Cloud, Minn., at the end of June. E-mail him for more information.
» The 2012 Northbrook Velodrome schedule is out. Racing starts Thursday, May 17.

» The ICA previews Saturday’s Hillsboro-Roubaix.
» XXX Racing-AthletiCo is sweetening the pot for riders who do the double with next weekend’s Leland Kermesse and Lincoln Park Criterium. The best-placed Leland racer in six of Sunday’s Lincoln Park fields will get a $50 bonus prize.
» Half Acre Cycling’s women and transgender road racing clinic is coming up: Saturday, April 28.

» This is too bad: The Sun-Times reports that the June 3 Evanston criterium is canceled. An Evanston race remains on the Superweek schedule, however. (Recall last summer’s legal dispute between local promoters and Superweek.)
» In better news for that weekend, registration is open for Friday’s Lake Bluff Criterium, which so far has “Cuban Missile” Ivan Dominguez (Franco Bicycles) lining up for the $10,000 P/1/2 purse.
» This is neat: The ICA began taking video interviews of the winners at Saturday’s Spring Super Crit. Full results are online.
» Registration is open for the Fox River Omnium, which will combine a flat crit in Elgin with the famous hill-climb crit of Fox River Grove. Be sure to check out the unique scoring scheme.

» Registration is now open for the May 12 Monsters of the Midway on the University of Chicago campus. Expect the 5’s field to sell out.
» And registration continues to be open for our April races: Leland Kermesse, Lincoln Park Criterium and Cobb Park Criterium. Registration is light across the board. Please do yourselves and the promoters a favor by registering early.
» Bike Snob NYC is appearing in Chicago tomorrow to promote his latest book, “The Enlightened Cyclist.” There will be a ride starting from Tati Cycles in Hyde Park at 6 p.m., then a 7:30 reading at the Lincoln Square location of On The Route.
» Sunday is the first outdoor event of the Mid America Time Trial Series.

» A flier is available for the May 5-6 Tour de Champaign and Urbana Grand Prix.
» Registration is open for both the Glencoe Grand Prix, our state criterium championship, and the Tour of America’s Dairyland. Both carry significant penalties for not registering early. Starting April 1 — a full two months before the race — Glencoe fees go up $3-$10 per race, then another $10-$15 day-of. Fees for most TOAD races are $43, plus $10 day-of. Racers doing all 10 races can pay $344 for the entire series, but only until May 1 and with a $25 processing fee on top of it all.

» Chris Jensen (Robots p/b/ Love) is organizing a repair day on April 1 to tend to traces left by December’s Afterglow cyclocross race. This is a good opportunity to help urban cyclocross stay in the good graces of the park district.
