Hopefully we’re all recovered from a demanding ToG, because we’ve got another solid weekend of racing - including Illinois and Michigan state championships!

  • With an Illinois State Road Race champion jersey and Illinois Cup points in the offing, head out to the O’Fallon Gran Prix Omnium this weekend June 14th-17th. It is a three day omnium, featuring Friday’s Time Trial, Saturday’s Illinois Road Race Championship, and Sunday’s Illinois Cup criterium (btw anyone know the Illinois Cup Standings…)
  • And then there’s the Michigan State Criterium Championships for Juniors, Women and Masters at Cherry Roubaix in Traverse City, MI.  Its a drive but we have heard that this is really a great race - and another one worth taking the family or significant other - its summer, be spontaneous!
  • Grab your BFF and suffer together in the Scarlett Fire 2-Person TT in Garden Prairie, IL, on Saturday, June 15th
  • Check it out, we added the ABR Winfield Criterium Weekend, July 27-28, to the race calendar
  • The Tour of America’s Dairyland is just around the corner kicking off Thursday, June 20th, in Shorewood
  • Registration for Tour of Elk Grove Village, August 2-4,  is open - check out the race schedule
  • Thanks Justin Taylor of Bonkers Cycling for a great ToG race recap

The Tour of Galena presented by xXx-Athletico Racing happened June 7-9.  A full weekend of racing including a four-race omnium for P/1/2/3 and three-race omnium for all other categories.  These courses truly test all facets of racing - very competitive.  And xXx (and all their sponsors and volunteers) put on a great event.

More to follow.  In meantime send us your race reports, photos, or any other interesting info to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Another great weekend of racing!  This weekend is Tour of Galena presented by xXx-Athletico Racing.  Pre-registration ends Wednesday. Racing starts Friday so take a “sick day”.  These are great courses and will attract strong fields.  And Galena has a lot going on for pre- and post-race fun.

Here are a few other tidbits of news:

  • Illinois Cycling Association and xXx Racing have organized a new Wednesday night Summer Practice Race Series.  Starting June 19 at 6PM at Labagh Woods Picinic area
  • Let’s not forget about our track racing - here’s The Ed Rudolph Velodrome (Northbrook) 2013 Summer Nights Racing Schedule
  • Gran Fondo’s are en vogue.  Two VERY hilly rides worth checking out: Horribly Hilly (June 15) and the Dairyland Dare (Aug 10)
  • A few random, mystery links: 1, 2, 3, 4

The 7th annual Glencoe Gran Prix went off this past Saturday, June 1.  Despite a few unfortunate mishaps and variable weather conditions, there was some fantastic racing.  Hats off to Jon Knouse, the event production team, volunteers, sponsors and Glencoe.  This is a top rate event.  By all the reports we heard the innovative race staging was a hit - particularly for the highly technical course.
