» The Illinois Cycling Association is accepting nominations for its board, and its next meeting is Saturday at 2 p.m. in Chicago.
» Some non-Chicago Cyclocross Cup races to be aware of:
Psycho Cross After Dark takes place the evening of Friday, Oct. 14. Bring your own lights. There will be a bonfire, bubble machine and maybe a band, and there is the option to camp overnight ahead of the next day’s Cup race. Then on Saturday, Nov. 19, Psimet invites you to Fox River Grove for Norge Ski Jump Cyclocross.
» Project 5 Racing invites women to the 4th Annual Ladies Kit Up ‘n’ Chat Chick Ride on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Westmont. Snacks provided.
» Just a few days left for the Thought You Knew 2012 Pin-up Calendar Kickstarter fundraiser.
» On Oct. 13, Active Trans celebrates its 25th anniversary with a gala that will include Christian Vande Velde (Garmin Cervélo).

» Don’t let all the cyclocross buzz fool you: There’s still great road racing to be had. ABD’s highly recommended Fall Fling takes place over the next two weekends, and this year there’s a $2,000 prize for team performance.

» After opening to record participation in Jackson Park this Sunday, the Chicago Cyclocross Cup next hits Dekalb on Oct. 2 and the 4’s fields are already filling up. The day will also include the Official Unofficial Illinois State Single Speed Cyclocross Championship, with winners earning airfare and entry to the Single Speed Cyclocross World Championships in San Francisco.
