​Hard to believe it’s already Memorial Day Weekend!  The race season is really heating up, we’re coming into form, and have some great race options:

• The geezer-only Memorial Day Masters Criterium Series by ABD is in Wood Dale this weekend. Pre-registration is open through tonight
• Well worth the drive is the long running and excellent Memorial Day series in the Quad Cities; Burlington Road Race on Friday, Snake Alley Criterium on Saturday, Melon City on Sunday, and then the Quad Cities Criterium on Monday
• And let’s not forget next weekend of June 1st:  Glencoe Gran Prix, the Lake Geneva Road Race, and the MATTS/ROTY Bong and Half 30k . Love all these races - wish they were Sat/Sun and not on same day
• The Prairie State Cycling Series just keeps getting better - they announced title sponsor Intelligentsia.  This further bolsters the event and is great for our race community.  And the coffee is excellent!
• Oh and registration for the Intelligentsia Prairie State Cycling Series is open - register before June 15th for a 20% discount on the full race series package

​The Fox River Grove Omnium presented by PSIMET went off this past weekend.  Both Saturday’s Elgin Cycling Classic and Sunday’s Fox River Grove Criterium provided not-your-ordinary courses, and there was some really excellent racing. Fantastic!

​The CBR weekend weather forecast looks awesome!  And fortunately we’ve got some great racing:

• PSIMET’s Fox River Omnium is this weekend: first up is the Elgin Cycling Classic  on Saturday, May 18th and then on Sunday, May 19th, the  Fox River Grove Criterium. These are both excellent courses and the fields will be stacked.
• For CBR Northerns the Wheel & Sprocket Crit in Neenah, WI is on Saturday, May 18th, and the Wheels on Willy in Madison is on Sunday, May 19th
• The Alexian Brothers  Tour of Elk Grove Village on the weekend of Aug 2nd, has added some fun and pizzazz to the event- Bob Roll will be on hand to call the race and there will be expanded television coverage (not sure if that will be a good thing or bad thing for me…)
• Higher Gear has sent us a number of updates to their training ride schedule - check them out
• Another reminder on the cycling survey - remember there’s a $25 “product incentive” for participants

Great upcoming races and a few good tidbits for this week:

• This Saturday, May 11th, is the Chicago classic:  Monsters of the Midway, and registration is open through today at 11PM (don’t play the weather hedge - sign up!)
• A great weekend of racing at the Elgin Cycling Classic  on Saturday, May 18th and then on Sunday, May 19th, the  Fox River Grove Criterium.  There’s still plenty of time to get some hill repeats in and conquer that beast at FRG - here’s an old video lest you forget!
• If you’re up north, Wheel & Sprocket Crit in Neenah, WI is on Saturday, May 18th, and the Wheels on Willy in Madison is on Sunday, May 19th
• The South Chicago Wheelmen just announced they are putting on the inaugural Downtown Homewood Classic on Sunday July 7th.  This fills that little gap we had between ToAD and Prairie State Cycling Series - and btw you can follow them on twitter @scw1923
• We just added the Herman Miller Brickyard Criterium in Grand Rapids on Saturday, June 29th to the CBR calendar.  Looking at that weekend - how do you pick which races to do?!  We are blessed!
• Javelin Bikes in Lake Zurich is hosting a second-Saturday-of-every-month ride. Varying distances and speeds so all are welcome.  And I bet you can check out a few Javelin bikes while you’re there!  First ride is this Saturday, May 11th starting 9AM
• A sports marketing company - Receptivity Group - is looking for product input from we hardcore cyclists (I think they call us “enthusiasts”) - please take their survey. And btw there’s a $25 “product incentive” for participants - and knowing the client company, its probably something pretty decent!
